WATCH OUT FOR CARGO THIEVES
HOW CAN YOU PREVENT CARGO THEFT FROM YOUR VEHICLE?
The police are warning drivers about the rising number of cargo thefts along the A67 and A73 between Venlo and Nijmegen, as reported by TLN on its website. TLN is calling for transport companies to be vigilant. Criminals have primarily been targeting sensitive goods, such as electronics being transported in trailers fitted with tarpaulins. Where does it go wrong and how can you prevent cargo theft?
WHERE DOES IT GO WRONG?
It is extremely important to make sure that you use the right type of vehicle to carry theft-sensitive products. A trailer fitted with tarpaulins is more susceptible to theft than a trailer with solid sides. An exception would be a trailer fitted with an Aluflex Curtainsider System. In addition, the level of security should be appropriate for the type of cargo you are transporting and the route you are taking. Never park in a parking area which is not secure. That is a mistake which is often made.
HOW CAN YOU PREVENT CARGO THEFT?
As a transport company, it goes without saying that you want to prevent cargo theft. You can do that by taking measures yourself. Often, you will only be insured if you have taken adequate security measures yourself. We wrote an article about this before: What a transport company can do to prevent cargo theft.
